Want to Crash the Super Bowl?16JAN07We did. That’s why our Video department took up the challenge posed by Doritos. The snack food company’s “Crash the Super Bowl” competition invited contestants to write, shoot and edit their own Doritos commercials. Official graphics and animations were provided for download on the company’s website. Other than that and a few guidelines, the creative was up to the entrants. Many great ideas generated by the Silver Oaks crew were considered before two were finally chosen to be produced for the competition. “Grab A Handful” has a football theme and draws humor from the cheesy coating Doritos can often leave on fingers. “Go Nuts” demonstrates just how far a couple of guys will go to get some Doritos. “Grab a Handful” reached the final 16 out of over 1,100 entries, and was entered into the Doritos commercial playoff that started on January 1, 2007. Five semi-finalists were then selected on January 5, 2007 and are being aired nationally during the NFL Playoffs. The public will vote to select the winning commercial, which will air during the Super Bowl on February 4th. Both Silver Oaks entries can also be viewed at Doritos.com.
