Silver Oaks Gets the Latest on Gaming at Conference

Silver Oaks Communications experts stayed up to date on the latest programming and design trends in the game industry at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

“We want to remain cutting edge in our approach to the games we develop for our clients,” said Greg Scott, president of Silver Oaks, who also attended the conference. “Silver Oaks partners with educators, publishers, museums and corporations to tap into the power of interactive games for a broad range of audiences.”

Silver Oaks representatives were among the 10,000 attendees who learned about the latest in computer, console, mobile, arcade and online games. In an open forum, hundreds of game developers demonstrated their latest creations in an atmosphere abuzz with the sounds of games. In other venues, students and independent game developers showcased their latest software, rendering tools, literature and techniques.

“Game development is a $9 billion-per-year industry,” Scott said. “It was important for us to participate in this conference because it is a major forum for programmers, artists, designers and audio experts to gather.”

Scott said that the show provided the Silver Oaks team with ideas about various software options and approaches to programming games. “We're starting to see corporate clients use more games and game elements in their branding and marketing efforts.”

In 2004, Silver Oaks released its first online game, Chatterblox Deluxe, a fast-paced word game. Silver Oaks developed the popular game entirely in-house, from game design and programming to original artwork, characters and music.

In addition, Silver Oaks works with clients such as Norcross Safety Products L.L.C. to develop interactive Web site games that maintain customer loyalty, brand awareness and keep Web site visitors coming back for more.
