Silver Oaks Dispatches Digital Games to Local Troops Overseas06DEC04In the spirit of the season of giving, Silver Oaks Communications, Inc., will send about 100 copies of its computer word game “Chatterblox” to local troops who are being deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. “At this time of year, it’s important to remember our Quad-City troops who are so far from their loved ones,” said Greg Scott, Davenport, president of Silver Oaks Communications, Inc., Moline. “Silver Oaks is proud to share ‘Chatterblox’ to remind soldiers that we remember them, and that we appreciate them for serving our country.” Silver Oaks has lifted the copy protection on their games, so the “Chatterblox” disk can be shared. “Dozens of soldiers will enjoy and share the game from one disk,” Scott said. “We appreciate the support from Silver Oaks,” said Barbara Rew, Rock Island, manager of the Rock Island Arsenal Mobilization and Deployment Program of Army Community Service that provides support for arsenal employees, their families, and military personnel and their families. The Mobilization and Deployment Program staff will pack and ship the disks to Fort Dix, New Jersey, and Camp Attaberry in Indiana. “Chatterblox” is a fast-paced word game that challenges players to help an animated dinosaur free little creatures trapped in the ice by building words from letter blocks. The game tests both strategy and speed. Silver Oaks developed the game entirely in-house, from game design and programming to original artwork, characters and music. “Playing ‘Chatterblox’ is a great way to relieve stress,” Scott said. “Soldiers can enjoy the game in available computers for a fast-paced, fun challenge.” Silver Oaks, which creates on-line games for its business clients, is in its 21st year of business in the communications industry. The company has earned national recognition for creativity and technical excellence in print, video, interactive and media services. [ send this page to a friend! click here ] |
