09DEC03

Silver Oaks Communications was honored by the American Institute of Architects with a 2003 Distinguished Building Award for its involvement in the renovation of the Chicago Lincoln Park Zoo exhibit, Farm-in-the-Zoo Presented by John Deere. Silver Oaks, the interpretives designer for the two-year project, was responsible for more than 14 educational interpretives as well as development of the new logo and signage for the entire three-acre site.

The Distinguished Building Award was established 48 years ago to recognize significant achievements in the planning, design and execution of recent building projects. One of four Design Excellence Awards, the Distinguished Building Award recognizes the best contemporary architecture produced by Chicago-area firms. A subjective jury of fellow architects selects the winners.
