‘Birds of North America’ will be open to visitors from Jan. 14 – May 31.
MOLINE, Ill. (Feb. 18, 2009) – Silver Oaks Communications, a creative media company centrally located in Moline, Illinois, recently completed work on a interactive touchscreen soundscape that features bird calls from 28 different North American species. Displayed as part of the National Geographic Museum’s “Birds of North America” exhibit in Washington, D.C., the Silver Oaks interactive “Bird Songs” allows visitors to select the calls they would like to hear, with the ability to combine multiple calls into a symphony of nature.
The interactive program was up and running at the museum just in time for the presidential inauguration ceremony on Jan. 20, when an estimated 1.8 million people ventured to the capitol city for the event. “Bird Songs” will be on display at the National Geographic Museum until May 31 alongside 90 original paintings of North American Birds that have appeared in issues of National Geographic magazine over the years. Silver Oaks worked alongside experts from Cornell University and the National Geographic archives to gather all of the bird calls and images that were needed to make the exhibit dynamic and engaging.
A multi-faceted corporation, Silver Oaks offers a comprehensive list of services to a variety of clients in the corporate, consumer and education sectors nationwide. The company has grown steadily since its inception in 1983 and today employs a creative team of over 50 designers, writers, programmers and producers who use their talents to generate everything from radio and television advertising to training tools and online resources.
