Don’t let hunger sneak up on you, “Kick Hunger” and fight back. This was the concept for the commercial Silver Oaks wrote, shot and edited for the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Contest.
“This year’s entry is built around the idea that you never know when hunger might creep up,” said Greg Marten, Video Manager for Silver Oaks. “Through a series of vignettes, Hunger strikes people in their daily lives. Until one person finally defeats Hunger.” This commercial makes use of physical humor to entertain the audience, while creating brand awareness for Doritos. Featuring local talent and locations, it was shot in HD using prime movie lenses to control the depth of field and to give it a film look.
In 2006, the first year for the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Contest, Silver Oaks also entered a humorous commercial that finished in the top 16 out of over 1,200 entries. This year’s entries are at a whopping 4,000+. The contest is open to anyone, and the coveted prize is a chance to have your commercial air during the XLIV Super Bowl.
Doritos judges will pick six finalists to be announced at the beginning of January 2010. Once the field is narrowed down, it will be up to you to vote for your favorite commercial. The top three commercials with the most votes will air during the Super Bowl on February 7, 2010.
