Here’s a riddle for you: How do you advertise for an advertising event? You call on Silver Oaks for help, of course, which is just what the Quad Cities Advertising Federation did to promote the 2007 ADDY Awards ceremony. The annual dinner and awards presentation was held at the Redstone Room in downtown Davenport. Recognition is given to advertising agencies and marketing communications departments from the Quad Cities area for their originality and creative contributions to the industry. Those who win awards at the local level then go on to compete nationally.

This year, the QCAF asked Silver Oaks to create materials for the ADDYs that would encourage local advertisers to submit entries, as well as promote the event itself. After a brainstorming session, it was decided that the event would take on a musical theme, with the ADDYs doubling as the name of the newest rock band. The first promotional item, which called for entries, was designed as an album cover for the ADDYs with all of the necessary event information on the back. Other ads followed, including a poster treating the ADDYs as an upcoming concert. The physical awards that were handed out even looked like the LPs that are given to artists when they make a hit record.

In addition to providing advertising for the event, Silver Oaks submitted entries in several award categories. In the past, Silver Oaks has been the recipient of the highest-level national ADDY for direct marketing to business. This year Silver Oaks was honored to receive several awards for clients such as The HON Company, McGraw-Hill and the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago.
