“Man-Eating Dumpster” is a live-action detective yarn that’s played for laughs. The seven-minute movie is about an eccentric character who thinks his neighbor has murdered a man and thrown the body into a nearby Dumpster. The disappearance of a zoo keeper and a mysterious message from a TV reporter keep the tension building…and the laughs coming! The film won the Best of City Award in the 2006 “48-Hour Film Project” contest, competing with 30 other film crews. It was shot completely in the Quad Cities by the Silver Oaks team (nicknamed Presto Video for the competition) who had only 48 hours to write, assemble a cast, gather props, establish sets, rehearse, shoot, edit, animate and create a soundtrack for the movie.
