Project Description

A series of commercials for the Quad-City Times newspaper tapped into our 2D and 3D animation talents. The completed spots were used on TV and online.

“Quadsville”
The Quad-City Times needed a way to promote their new social networking website called Quadsville, a place for local people to find information about merchants and services that are available locally. The idea was to use 2D Flash animations to bring the character icons already used on the website to life. We created an animated spokesperson to lead visitors through the highlights and features offered on the Quadsville website.

The Quadsville spot won a Bronze ADDY at the 2010 Quad Cities AAF competition.

“Classifieds”
In this economy jobs are on everybody’s mind. This stylized animated commercial takes you through the classified section. As the camera tracks from different positions on the page, it stops on key graphs, text and other important facts about why the Quad-City Times is the place to look for a job. A real newspaper was used for the base art. The graphs, text and facts were added to look as if they were part of the real paper. It was then animated in 3D using Maya software. Other special effects were added in Combustion software and combined with the announcer, music and sound effects.
