"Movement of People Through Nebraska" Interactive
Project Description
Bringing western migration to life, Silver Oaks collaborated with an exhibit design firm to develop a computer-based touchscreen interactive program for the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center in Alliance, Nebraska. “Movement of People Through Nebraska” illustrates how Nebraska served as a crossroads for the western frontier during the 19th century – mapping the paths of five immigrant groups across the state, as well as showing how the expansion of the Transcontinental Railroad put Alliance on the map. Users are able to select a trail from the main menu and then work their way through each step of the respective group’s travels as the path animates across the screen and photos and text highlight the milestones for each trail.
