"Make Your Own Soil" Interactive

Project Description

Silver Oaks teamed up with another design firm to make water conservation fun and intriguing at the Wichita Water Center in Kansas. Part of a larger exhibit, “Make Your Own Soil” walks visitors through the age-old recipe for soil, along the way prompting their involvement. In a very simplified manner, visitors learn how bedrock or parent rock creates soil, once it is exposed to mechanical and chemical weathering, with the addition of organisms and water, and then “baked” for hundreds of years.
